The artist wanted to make a work that contrasted the Section 21 Eviction Notices that her family were served, with the chintzy home-sweet-home embroidery that adorns her nan’s walls, where she would stay temporarily during these periods of housing instability and legal homelessness.
The text and its design are copied from the proforma Section 21 Notice that landlords serve in what are commonly called “no-fault evictions” - eviction notices that can be served at any time, and without the tenant having done anything wrong.
